How does this work?

Short pauses between practice bouts, inspired by gap / micro-rest research. Research on skill practice found compressed neural replay during short waking rests (Buch et al., Cell Reports 2021). That’s motor sequences in the lab — not a guarantee for every study session. Read more in our blog post.

Studying with random micro breaks had these benefits in a research setting:

Brief rests
~10s
same timescale as motor-skill rest/replay studies
Between bouts
Rest
when the brain can replay what you just practiced

How?

Start the microbreaks timer, and at random intervals you will be prompted to take a microbreak. Close your eyes, think of nothing for a few seconds, and continue working or studying after the beep.

Optionally, use the visual focus and attention exercises prior to your session.

Inspired by peer-reviewed motor-skill rest/replay research (Buch et al., Cell Reports 2021). Not a medical device; results vary.
